Chef Guida Ponte, Founder and Tour Host
Guida Ponte is extremely proud of her homeland of Sao Miguel and passionate about sharing her love for the Azores, especially its abundant culinary riches. One cannot grow up there, she says, and not become a foodie. Her father, an avid cook, also sparked her early interest in all things culinary. She attended culinary school at Boston’s Newbury College and has since worked in many kitchens in the Boston area, including Legal Seafood for 18 years, her own restaurant, “Guida’s Coast Cuisine,” in Concord, Mass., and currently, at Verrill Farm, also in Concord. Over the years, Guida has received numerous awards and accolades, including selection by Michelle Obama to her team of 50 US ambassadors for the “Let’s Move Campaign.” She is an active member of many culinary organizations, including the Culinary Guild of New England, American Institute for Wine and Food, Women Chefs and Restauranteurs, Les Dames d’Escoffier, and the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
